An ambitious professional with over a decade of experience working in dentistry, Amy began her career as a Dental Assistant in one of Ottawa’s largest periodontal practices. Ready to take on a new challenge, Amy went back to school to finish her business diploma. She later returned to the health care field in an administrative capacity, further progressing into increasingly senior roles. She is now a Regional Manager charged with overseeing nine dental clinics across Ottawa.
On the aspects of her role that she finds most rewarding, Amy notes, “I love to see happy patients leave the clinic and the fantastic relationships they have established with the teams.” Amy admits that overseeing nine clinics has its challenges but ultimately credits her “fantastic team members” for helping to ease the load. She notes, “I have assembled an amazing team of people. Working with them to take the teams to the next level is my goal.”
On what integrity means to her, Amy explains, “[It means] treating every member of my team equally and with respect. I would never ask something of my team that I wouldn’t do myself.”
When asked what advice she has for other practice support team members looking to move ahead in their careers, she suggests, “Be persistent and do as much continuing education as possible to grow your knowledge base, [and] keep up healthy relationships with all of your team members.”
